Why Do My Gel Nails Peel Off After One Day?

gel nail strips good or bad for your nails answered

Have you ever tried giving yourself a gel manicure at home and they start peeling after one day?

Sadly this is not a super uncommon experience for people - and it’s such a bummer. Especially since getting your gel nail manicure to look as good as it does out of the nail salon might take a bit of time. Time that you’d probably rather be doing other things.

Or maybe you gave yourself a gel manicure but it’s just not as glossy and shiny as it usually looks when you have it professionally done?

Sadly - there could be a few things that can cause this. The first and most common is just user error. The most common reason why the top coat starts peeling after one day is because the top coat isn’t cured properly. Sometimes this is a top coat formula and lamp compatibility issue - or that you just need to cure the top coat for longer.

Another possibility is that you’ve wiped the first layer of liquid gel polish with alcohol - which reduces the adhesion of the top coat to the previous coat.

Honestly - there’s a way easier way to get that glossy gel manicure at home. If you love the gel manicure look but hate how complicated and time consuming the process can be semi-cured gel stickers might be the solution.

Unlike the name, semi-cured gel stickers do not actually look like stickers. In fact, when applied correctly (which is super easy to do) they look exactly the same as a professional gel manicure.

Since applying semi-cured gel nail wraps is way less complicated there are less variables or steps that can go wrong - which also means the learning curve is not that intense. Also, you can save a lot of time and still get a fresh and beautiful gel manicure.
