The Foolproof Guide To Removing Semi-cured Gel Nail Polish Strips

One of the most common questions we get is “how do you remove these gellies?”

Fair question - as we know some at home manicure systems are super complicated when it comes to the removal process - or downright toxic.

For example, the dip nail removal process can cause dip lung (no joke). Press on nails tend to pop off super easily on their own - and traditional uv gel nail polish requires soaking and filing (that sometimes causes a ton of damage to your natural nails.

Removing gel strips is super easy, and it’s truly only a few steps.

First, be sure to get a semi-cured gel nail polish strips remover and apply to the edges, cuticles and the top of your nail and let it soak for a few minutes. We recommend using a cuticle pusher to tease the edges of the gellies up. If you’re feeling resistance - stop - apply more remover and allow to soak. Then try teasing the gellies sticker more and flood the space between the semicured gel nail strips and your nailbed. Allow the formula to soak for a few minutes.

Depending on the cured gel nail strips formula the removal process can take a few minutes per hand to 15-30 minutes. If you use base gel formulas the removal process might take longer.

Here are a few things to look out for when removing your cured gel stickers:

  1. If you’re feeling resistance when taking your gel strips off - stop! Forcing the semicured gel nail strips off or biting it off can damage your natural nail beds.
  2. Don’t try to remove the semicured gel nail polish strips without using a remover. If you’ve run out - or waiting for your remover to come in the mail you can try using a natural oil but we would recommend waiting for the remover.
  3. If you don’t have a cuticle pusher - you can try using a floss picker. Some find this to be easier - but be mindful of the amount of resistance you’re experiencing. If you want to try out using a floss picker be sure to start from the top edges of your nail and move downwards.
  4. If you’re using a base coat in your gellies application process - be sure to read the instructions for removal. Some base coats will require a separate process to remove or buff out.

The removal process is designed to be gentle to your natural nails - which makes growing your natural nails healthier and easier. An amazing benefit of this is that you can grow your natural nails to be longer and stronger which means you won’t have to use extensions!

Plus - with semi cured gel nail stickers you get the same accessibility to unique designs and premium art designs that you would get if you were to go to a nail salon.
